PostSubject: Hello All, Oraeus Here   February 7th 2008, 6:45 am

First of all i gotta say: i cant believe i found this site, I have always been fond of innovative tech like this, most of the ideas floating around here are absolutely terrific, and i was looking for inspiration to get back in the metallurgic scene, so to speak, Sinza and friends, i believe you talked me into it... now comes the part where i have to stop being lazy :silent:

Anyway, a little background on me:
I USED to be an apprenticed blacksmith, Only have decent experience in Silver, and certain steels
Used to work for the Catholic Church (not a very fun employer)
anyway, i tend to design works with a Religious/Magical feel to them, because i guess thats my thing, studied ancient languages and religions as a youngster, and they influenced my work alot

Hope to start working in the field again soon,
Oraeus

Welcome.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I also fight the lazy monster, some weekends he wins, some weekends I get stuff done. Constant battle.

Hope to see some new designs!!

Don't assume what we know and what we don't know, should never do that in life. It would surprize you what some of us know.

What do you want to know about steel?? I'd say I know a bit pirat Not everything, but enough to make knives and weapons.

And I can't speak for the rest, but I know that Jerry is VERY knowledgable.

i've always wanted a silver crucifix that when you slide "Our Lord" forward a blade shoots out the front(nice and thin pure stiletto stylee! Cool Cool , Is this possible without it actually looking "Obvious" or tacky though? Rolling Eyes Cool

I've seen close to this, And it looked pretty good, although it worked by twisting the cross, not a vertical slide but, hey, isn't it easier that way?
anyway. it had like a square "trapdoor" at the bottom that opened when you began twisting, and after you carried the twist all he way through, a little 4 inch blade made of( i cant remember) and coated with silver came shooting out with enough force to probably take off a finger,

Im not really good with automatic OTF types, so i cant tell you how it could be made, but hey, I am here to learn, right?

im sure it wouldn't look tacky, the one i saw appeared to be a solid cross, the lines were covered by a celtic knot type design around the angles of the cross

Cheers KD mate Cool

That twisty trapdoor one you were talking about sounds cool as fuck and i love the celtic designs, Perhaps "The Boondock Saints"(TOP MOVIE cheers ) should have had these instead of the wooden ones they wore that would've been pukka! Cool Cool
