PostSubject: Cowscankill Knuckleduster   June 11th 2010, 10:29 pm

Okay... so I still have a broken finger but really needed to do something crafty. I made some wooden knuckle dusters today (personalized) but I screwed them up a little and have to sand them down again. duh

They are pretty much finished, except for sanding and beveling, so if you remind me tomorrow afternoon I'll get pictures up. Very Happy

EDIT: Pictures!

So I made this knuckle duster to look like a cow skull Very Happy
It was fun. Hadn't carved wood in a while; I only used some basic hardwood from my shed.
I got this awesome sandstone look on it by soaking it in the skull in bleach. It's pretty wicked for an experiment. All in all, it fits my hand well and is nice and smooth. The horns stay on the sides and don't get in the way. I also figured since "pressure = force/area" it would pack a harder punch if it narrowed down to a kind of point.

I think all I have to do now is engrave 'Cowscankill' into the back Wink

Sooo, what do you guys think?
(oh yeah, my finger heals completely in like 4 weeks, so don't expect to much Razz)

Well, my plan for making money is failing miserably because I need two hands.... Arrrggggg

So I might make a metal one eventually if I get money.

Now THAT"S why I have this forum!!! Somebody designed something and MADE IT!!!

Thank you so much. I deal with so much trying to make this place cool and stuff it with information, I spend hours cleaning up post, moving them to the right areas, dealing with problem people....but THIS is the stuff that makes it worth it!!!

I have NEVER see dusters that look like that....Dude, that's Awesome!!!

For every 200 members I get I get ONE that builds something....if that many. There are so many members and most don't build, they just read or talk about how cool it would be.

Thank you. I've been having a crappy weekend, cop, and you just gave me a little high point in my day.

I wish more of you would build something.

A+ Man thumb up

I actually have many (partially) completed weapons, but losing the use of a hand tends to put many things on hold...

....... And the pictures look GREAT !! thumb up

I like the way you tapered the business end of your "Bovine Buster" down to a point,... and it looks like your prototype is fat enough where you could bevel it's thickness down the other way to make an even more wicked point if you wanted to.

I can already see you taking this design to the next step by making it out of other materials, or adding some visual design features to accent the skull theme.

It's looking good little bro!,... Welcome to the rank of Weapon Master sword

Carving a wood "core" is the first step
get some casting sand, press the wood into the sand and pack it.
lift the wood out, pour some metal in.

do it over and over and over . . .

Cool design. It will sell well.

find an acetylene torch and start saving brass scrap.

I've seen multiple instructions for a crucible, didn't even cross my mind to try casting brass knuckles.

Hey man, that's nice. As others have said, I would suggest making one out of metal, that way it would pack a harder punch. I like the design though.

Kudos to you. It looks kick ass.

Thanks! I'll start collecting brass once I know what it looks like... and when I find some dunno
I'll probably end up buying brass screws or something and melting them down.

You could probably make a "wall hanger"
the same method, with a common propane torch and plumbing solder.

You'll get metal knucks, but the would bend and deform real easy.
