War Maul

I know this isn't a wristblade or have anything to do with blades, but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway. Mostly because I havn't posted jack shit in quite a while.

Me and some friends are going to the renaissance fair in a couple weeks so we're getting our outfits figured out. My larger buddy said he wanted a big ass hammer to carry around, like a barbarian.

I was excited to finally build something other than a hidden blade, and since I'm somewhat caught up on them I thaught I go out and build me a big ass hammer.

This is what I threw together today. Hope you guys like it

I tried to pick out an oak dowel that had a really neat grain.

Yeah it is, very easy on the eyes un-like most war hammers, and looks very well put together.

Quick question about a detail i noticed, but couldn't trace the purpose of.

The small rod going through the shaft about an inch below the hammer head...any particular use for that?

I think that it is just a mushroomed tip to hold it on or something like that... OR A STOPPER!!! yeah thats what it is...

It could be gigantic amethyst stone ?
Proplem is of course where to get one...

Needs to have a bigger head. All I can imagine is a nice looking croquet mallet. Give the face a diameter twice as big and THAT'S a war hammer.
