I've been doing a lot of knife throwing practice, couple hours every day. Getting practice for International Competition. But this is me just screwing around playing throwing games.
Hitting a plastic bottle cap at 8ft.

You're fucking nuts Sinz-man. I'm impressed! Keep practicing. Let's see if you can hit that bottle cap on your first try!

Cool stuff, this is a skill I want to acquire one day. And it's awesome seeing a video of you talking and stuff, now I have a voice to go with the text (I may have missed past videos, if they were released lol)
At this competition, how good do you think the other contestants will be? Be sure to bring back awesome footage of people throwing knives!

They are much better than I am. I think the record long throw is 106ft, I've thrown as far as 35ft. I can hit the 4" bullseye at 20ft, they can hit targets the size of penny from 30ft or more. It's just a matter of years of practice. To be honest other than this last few months I haven't thrown in over 15 years, I used to every day but life happened. I'm getting better every day. I want my Expert Level certificate, but if I go and the first year I only get Intermediate Level I'll still be happy with it. I'll keep at it until I'm certified Expert Level Knife Thrower. I'm #189 on the International Knife Thrower Hall Of Fame. http://www.ikthof.com/Association_Members.html
Want to see a great thrower check out Pat Minter and you'll see how good these guys and gals are. https://www.youtube.com/user/thawkmoonhawk?feature=watch
As for acuiring the skill, why not today? The best throwing knives cost only about $20 each. Get something over 12" not more than 16". Smaller knives under 12" are harder to throw. My target board was only $40 for wood, nails, paint. When you find a knife you like get at least 3 if not 6 OF THE SAME KNIFE. You throw one and if the throw was not perfect you make SLIGHT adjustments with each other knife until you're throwing perfect.
Hold by blade at about 8ft. If right handed have your left foot forward and bend your knees rocking a bit. Don't throw super hard and don't throw whimpy soft, do a good solid throw that is your natural throw hard enough to control and make it stick. If the handle is pointing up when it hits step forward a few inches, if the handle is pointing down step a few inches back. If straight out it's perfect.
Only way to get good is to practice. I try and throw a couple hours a day, but i'm 'in training' right now. If nothing else spend $25 and get the small knives and dartboard from BudK and start with that. $25 and 10ft of space is something we can all come up with.
You'll love having the skill...It's a kind of magic!

When I used to do SAMBO, the trainer would teach us to throw things like large kitchen knives, screw drivers, ans spike nails(10" to 12" in length), but damn it Sinza the bottle cap blew my mind - that is some serious skill!

Above picture, bottle cap from 12ft handle throw 1 spin. So I threw that and posted it on the KnifeThrowers Facebook group because that's where they all hangout. And my buddy Bo said if I could hit a bottlecap i should try a Life Saver candy or a asprin.
So...here's me hitting a asprin from about 8 ft blade throw ½spin. I will say I had just got home from work and I didn't do any warm-up throws...so it took a couple shots. Also...you just don't get any more accurate then this, this is a perfect hit.

I bet the more cans you have to do that with, the less accurate you get.
(Edit: Oh I just read that it's a pop can. That joke makes no sense then... )
That video gave me an idea though. What if you threw a double sided knife then, threw like a 2x4 or something that would stick on the end of the previosly thrown knife. Then so on and so on.
I saw a trick on a show a little while back where the knife thrower threw one knife then threw another and stuck it in the handle of another knife, Robin hood style.
Ok, there it is, get a piece of cedar (best wood I can think of that will slpit clean) and try to split it in twain with a throwing knife.
You could even put little fletches on it for the whole effect.
Also known as a Retractable Forearm Dagger, Xiphoid is a class of weapons with a blade that is retractable into a forearm worn wristband/bracer sheath. Designed for swift and quick surprise attacks. It is notable for being evolved from the Katar and the Pata, punching swords with the blade sitting inline with the users fist..
There's two kinds of people in this world when you boil it all down.
You've got your 'talkers' and you've got your 'doers'.
Most people are just talkers, all they got is talk. But when all is said and done, it's the doers who change this world. And when they do that, they change us. And thats why we never forget them...
So which one are you? Do you just talk about it or do you stand up and do something about it? Because believe you me, all the rest of it is just bullshit.
