Would this weapon be useful in any way? I know nunchaku are supposed to be showy, and mainly used as assassination weapons (to break the trachea using it as a nut-cracker type weapon, to break the skull, etc.), but I can't help but wonder if this has any significance over the norm. Sure, it looks badass, and in the game he makes some pretty impressive combo's with it (that actually seem do-able, considering the fact it is a game - and DMC nonetheless). Watch some videos of it.

Unless you want to cause them pain and shove it up their arse, then I'd say no. Nunchaku are hard enough to use, but imagine this? You'd have to train hell of a lot with them, even then, they'd be as useful as a gun with no bullets.

I figured as much. Still, it'd make one hell of a show tactic and prop!

And a fun self-inflicting injury device.

Show me one weapon that you can't hurt yourself with.

I say screw it, I'm making them.
I'll try to keep you guys posted on it's progress. Then we can see if it would work as a weapon, but I can already tell (from my experience) that it will do just fine.
EDIT: found this guy...
Kind of like what we are looking at, and if he can do it with four, I think three should be reasonable.

The size of the ring IS just a bit small. You should be able to fit your hand in it to swing all three nunchaku at once for certain attacks (in the video). What diameter are those roundstock's?
Im heading to Home Depot tomorrow. I was thinking about getting some 1 1/4" diameter PVC pipe and some dowel rod to stick in it. Get a large ring (about 5" diameter), some chain, and screw in some eyebolts and get some nice looking chain to hook it up with. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks.
I donno what I'm gonna stick on the ends of the nunchaku to make those spiky lookin' thing-a-ma-jiggers. We'll figure that out later!

Honestly, I would just leave it at a simple bottom because the weight is going to be really off set with those things at the end *that's just me* , but if you want to go for the look I say ad whatever you want, it IS your project.

Actually, I might just ditch the PVC and stick with a hard wood - just get a few different diameters and carve it out, get 3 blocks of wood (about 4-5" by 4-5" by 2" thick) and cut the corners out of them and screw them to the caps of the three wooden dowel rods to look like the real thing.

Idea.
Longer chains and shorter weighted handles would make an excellent entangling device. A metallic bola?

Not to necro-post or anything but I just found the "theme" song on youtube and I just have to post it.
Also known as a Retractable Forearm Dagger, Xiphoid is a class of weapons with a blade that is retractable into a forearm worn wristband/bracer sheath. Designed for swift and quick surprise attacks. It is notable for being evolved from the Katar and the Pata, punching swords with the blade sitting inline with the users fist..
There's two kinds of people in this world when you boil it all down.
You've got your 'talkers' and you've got your 'doers'.
Most people are just talkers, all they got is talk. But when all is said and done, it's the doers who change this world. And when they do that, they change us. And thats why we never forget them...
So which one are you? Do you just talk about it or do you stand up and do something about it? Because believe you me, all the rest of it is just bullshit.
