PostSubject: RULES REMINDER   February 23rd 2009, 5:09 am

OK folks, In light of recent events I thought I'd take a moment to reiterate a couple of things.

First, if you haven't read the rules, READ THEM NOW.

I know Sinza isn't a big fan of rules, but since I am the one that usually ends up cleaning up the threads that end up getting out of control, you get rules, or you get a none too pleased Balrog barking in your ear into perpetuity. Personally, I think all of our lives will be much easier if you just read *and be mindful of* the rules. Very Happy

I'm going to recap some of the important ones, and a few trivial ones that I have recently noticed here, but do go back and read all the others.

1. Honesty and courtesy.
We like you guys. And we hope you guys like us. But if there are two big things we don't like, it is dishonesty and arrogance. If you have a propensity for either one, you need to check it at the door or expect to have a hard time of things in here. Be honest, and as civil as possible to everyone here at all times. Pro Tip: it's not a requirement, but life will go especially smoothly for you if you are humble as well. Here, we are all brothers (yes, even the sisters are brothers, since there are no women on the Internet.) Razz Treat each other as such, and all will be well.

2. Traffic
We also like traffic from other sites, but we want it generated in an honest fashion. In general nobody has any issues with the diagrams, pictures and so on being used elsewhere, so long as credit is given, and permission asked where appropriate. If you do refer people to the site, do so openly and honestly.

3. Positive feedback and constructive criticism
Please remember that lots of folks here have lots of experience in a lot of different things, and someone will always have more experience about something than you. So while you should always feel free to ask questions, or question any one or any thing that doesn't seem to make sense to you, but PLEASE do it COURTEOUSLY. I'm pretty sure your Moms/Drill sgts all taught you how to do that. They were wise people. You should listen to them. :)

4. Safety and common sense
We are all here to enjoy a hobby. A common interest in all things mechanical. Or sharp. Often times both sharp and mechanicals. Please use your head. Don't do anything stupid or illegal. And if you do, don't tell us, we don't want to know. We want everyone to be safe, so please respect our wishes if we say you cannot discuss things like dangerous chemicals, fluids, powders, etc. They're just bad mojo. And we don't need any bad mojo 'round here. flamed 'MmmK?

5. Follow the rules.
I am a stickler for organization. Not just for the heck of it, but because it makes the forum easier to navigate, makes the admittedly glitchy forum search function easier to use, and makes it easier to organize things so people with slow Internet connections aren't bogged down forever. If one of the admins (It will usually be me, because I enjoy being a pain that way) request that you change or remove something in or from your account or thread, just do it. I'm not going to repeat myself about it. Nor am I going to tell you what I'll do if you don't. It'll be an adventure. Very Happy

Yes, those of you who have been here a while have heard all of this before, others haven't. Just a little reminder. None of us have an issue with any of you, we just want to make you mindful of some of the things we feel are important to us. We appreciate all your work in making this forum the cool place it is today.

And we'd like to keep it that way. And I'm guessing you all would much rather be helpful than to have to deal with Balrog dragon breath in your face all the time. Razz

I'm just saying. Very Happy

Peace!! cheers cheers cheers cheers Very Happy Very Happy

PostSubject: Re: RULES REMINDER   February 23rd 2009, 10:33 am

Thanks again buddy.

here's a few more.....

GOOGGLE....learn to use it. I do a lot of searching and digging for information. It's a sickness of mine.

But please don't make me Googgle for you. Got a question about wristblades? Post 'em up!
But if you have a off topic question please, at least look at Googgle first. There are MANY questions that get posted that I end up spending 1/2 hour searching for the answer. As much as I love the forum this is time I could be building something.
My own fault for not wanting any un-answered questions, but most of the time you could find the answers yourself in the same time it takes to write a post with questions.

I Googgle....then if I haven't found what I want I go to a different search engine...then another. Then I change the wording....then change it again...and again....and again.....there are dozens of ways to say the same thing.

Also....Phyreblade and I have a different way of cleaning things up. I don't ask you to fix a post, I just do it. If all of a sufdden something is changed or gone...or fixed...now you know. Many times I'll fix pictures, links, etc...and sometimes I delete post if there's a reason or I just don't like it.

As far as advertising other forums on here, go for it. I have no problem with other people doing their thing, just don't step on our toes. As for posting pictures on other sites.,,,....I can't control anyone, but I ask that credit is given where credit is due. Please be honest with any information.
.....AND IF YOU POST MY PICTURE.........make sure you spell the name right Cool Sinza :SINZA:
