| New member. Hi guys, thanks for having me. I'm a retired locksmith from Chicago. Tiny precise mechanical devices and sharp pointy objects are in my blood. Let's start small. In Sinza's very informative post, "The perfect double-action design for a wrist weapon", I came across a photo of the 'TOP AUTOMATIC' which I bought some years ago as a front opening switchblade COMB. Clearly, the blades were shipped in a seperate box which never made it past Customs. (The comb is a piece of crap, the body and the design aren't all that bad.) In the interest of seeing a late 1970's wrong made right, I'd be interested in a swap. I want a blade, in good condion, to turn my idiot auto-comb into the weapon it was intended to be. I have a Belgian (?) bayonet blade which I've been saving for about 30 years because it was so perfectly suited to be made into a cat-knife. Working length is 8", 9 1/4" overall, (Must have been some sort of an interrupted thread deal judging by the construction,) trepanned both sides. I'll scan the thing if anyone needs to see it close-up.
Thanks again. |

| Welcome !
I have a lot of the combs,
the top automatic, OTF comb that is the strongest still cannot push out a heavy steel blade.
I put in a steel blade and it would only work if I pointed it down. I put in a titanium blade, and it works 80% of the time. |

| Hey Klynn, Welcome to the forums!
Well i'll also say I haven't seen a switchcomb in years! However i'm surte a conversion can be done. Though From Jerry's post, I get the impression that the springs used were not specced to handle real blades. You may want to post pics of what you have, so we can see what you are working with, but chances are you will need to do a whole lot more work than just swapping out blades in order to make it work proplerly... _________________
