XIPHOIDS
Also known as a Retractable Forearm Dagger, Xiphoid is a class of bladed weapons with a dagger blade that is retractable into a forearm worn wristband or bracer sheath.
Designed for swift and quick surprise attacks. It is notable for being evolved from the Katar and similarities to the Pata, short punching swords with the blade sitting above the user's knuckles.
The Weapon Class of Xiphoid has also expanded to include Wrist Spikes, Wrist Mounted Guns, Flamethrowers, and pretty much any weapon mounted on a hidden or visable wristband.

First topic message reminder :

Guys...all the new members have to state age and location.

I would prefer that all members go into their profile and add their location and age.


At some point I will be going in and asking each of you to do so in a personal message.

So please, do this one on your own. If you don't at some point I will make you.


The location is more of a want to know kind of thing.

The age I'm finding I would really like to know because with some of out members being teenages we get some post that ask questons that ....show their age. I have nothing against teenages being here, but I would like to know if I'm talking to a 40 yr old or a 14 yr old.
I will ask all of you to be careful, but if I know you are 14 I will have a little more patience and will explain things a little more.


Right now this is a firm request, but is is kinda manditory. If you don't add the info I will at some point ask you in a PM.

Welcome !

1. you don't need to swear, we get the idea. but most of us are not particularly fussy.

2. Sorry, I live in USA, don't know Canadian Laws,
but even if there seems to be no specific law about it,
there may be a general catagory, like "offensive weapon"
or there could be general intent law, "no usefull purpose"

so you should really look into it, further.

I was on the governments website earlier today trying to find the answer before I started asking around. I don't know what the thing is with governments just being generally hard to find answers from but I did even a general search for "weapon" and it came up with stuff on do not threaten ppl etc. I'm very close to just going down to the local PD and asking them if they have a list. I asked at the aforementioned house of knives who sell all these knives and weapons and the best they gave me was "If you're being searched for some reason just make sure you mention it."

I've found this Wiki page, but really, I'm not sure if Wiki can be trusted to be 100% legally correct. I'm going to try some more searches on the government websites for Knife legislation, as that may be more specific. Who knows.

Hey Davme_mcreg, welcome to the forums!

From what I've read, it seems like the general consensus is that the legality of anything that is in the gray area between what is or isn't legal is at the discretion of a law enforcement officer. IE if it looks to the officer like a fighting knife, then it is illegal.

Thanks PB. I had read that second one and was using it as a light guide as it seemed to be paraphrased. As for the first one it will take some time to sift through haha tongue

Here seems to be the beginning of the sinking ship,
"prohibited weapon" means

(a) a knife that has a blade that opens
automatically by gravity or centrifugal force
or by hand pressure applied to a button,
spring or other device in or attached to the
handle of the knife


So it looks like I'm stuck to my cardboard version, or flimsy plastic.

Hey everyone. I have been here a bit but haven't gotten to a good intro yet (sorry).
My name is Rev. Clayton Blackwell. I am 41 and I hail from Spokane WA. I have a small bladesmithing workshop in my basement where I do maily propwork for Convention costumes and reenactment purposes. I am also trained in several forms of martial arts including Shinobi-do (true togaure ryu ninjitsu). There are actually several practitioners here in Spokane some of whom are good friends of mine. I will only offer my opinions on things and will accept graciously any constructive criticism.

Well I am an unprofessional exterminator(Im pretty skilled at the trade) and a weapon fanatic. I also am good with computers to some extent. I love weapons yet I have managed to build only 3 good ones in my days. Not the best at building, but If you want to know something or want an idea then I'm your guy.

i was looking around the web for schematics for a DAOTF to replicate the AC hidden blade and found my way to this forum. When i registered i when straight to the Weapon's topics to see what the whole deal was about and i didn't really notice this thread till today so... Hello newbie thread.
