Hey everyone!

How ya all goin? Sharpshooter-50 here. Happy to finally be a member, just wanted to say thanks for allowing me to join and that im absolutely amazed at the works of art being created! There truly are some masters and artists on here, i hope i can one day reach their lofty heights! Im here to learn and tho im not particulary skilled or gifted im grateful to anyone and everyone who will take time out of their day to help me and give me advice, so thank you and hopefully with all your guys help i can make some pretty cool gear and contribute to this site. Ok im now rambling so il shut up now! lol

My point is, just do it. The skills will come.

As far as I know there is no school that gives a degree in weapons. At one point I wanted to know about weapons. Now I can say I own dozens of books on knives and weapons and I've taken enough notes that I could write my own book. I now have the desire to design and make my own knives and weapons. I'm not great, but I am getting better.

Pick something and become a expert on that one thing. For a few months do nothing but think about that one thing. Draw pictures. Draw more pictures. Build it in your head. Build it in cardboard. Buy some books and learn the language, learn the history.

Much of what is on this forum is not in any of my books. One of the reasons I made this place.
But if you study knives and weapons you will get a understanding of their construction. By making drawings of how these are built you will soon be designing your own cool weapons and gear.
And when I say study I mean it as if you were in school. I have things like 'Encyclopedia of Weapons' kind of books. Big thick phonebook sized books with pictures, history, and constuction. As I said I also have taken many notes and have filled binders full of notes and drawings. I have a notebook on switchblades that has more pictures and information than any of the switchblade books I own.

You are as smart and as skilled as you allow yourself to be. As are we all.
It's all a matter of how much time we spend training our hands and mind.

Haha cheers guys! And thanks for the advice Sinza i have already a large file filled with pics and info, along with several books i have and along with some of the ideas ive seen of here ive already started planning and coming up with ideas of some basic weapon designs to build.

Haha lol no probs and thank you phyreblade, actually speak of the devil...or balrog in this case, i stumbled on to your site today and i gotta say some of those posts were hilarious! and informative lol the post on the umbrella sword had me sticthes! i think you may have to add a post to your site for your wit cos its sharper than some of weapons you display! lol im sorry that was bad (note to self dont annoy a forum full of members with large pointy things!) but anyway once again thanks for the welcome!

I think just did the equivilant of walking into a mosque with your shoes on while eating a side of by calling bladed weapons "large pointy things." Is it still heresy if you did it for comical emphasis, even if the joke was bad?

that's the pure essence of the thing.

Back in caveman days, there was Women, fire, food, and large pointy things.
pretty much everything I do, revolves around one of those four primal concepts.

There were those cavemen that liked rocks more than pointy things,
I guess they evolved into the NRA. the rocks got smaller and faster.

lol cheers guys im a big fan of humour, i like the really dry wit and bad ones that make people groan, cringe and usually shake their heads in dissapointment lol
