Hi,
I'm new here, I stumbled across the site on google looking for ...well, take a guess...A retractable wrist blade design. I already had some pretty good ideas of my own for an extending wristblade with retractability, even if its only good for one open and close before manual reset (spring loaded version) or an idea I had that would make it repeatable over and over at the touch of a button.

A little about myself, I'll be turning 23 this month, and I'm currently active-duty enlisted in the USMC. I don't know precisely why but I've always been fascinated and almost addicted to bladed weapons even as a child when I stole my first butterfly knife from a souvenier store at the age of 8 (was pretty nice for a cheap balisong knockoff, never broke lol but I did eventually lose it somewhere). By 16 I had more than a couple dozen knives of many types and my parents finally let me buy a katana (still have it back at my parents house, that things was like a child to me haha).

As far as blade use I have trained both by myself and by martial arts instructors in the use of alot of bladed weapons. And of course USMC knife training by our martial arts instructors, which is a little more... aggressive.
I'm pretty mechanically, electronically and even computer inclined (which I'm thinking will come in handy for this little project i'm starting myself on). Perhaps this last paragraph is better suited for a different post, but my basic aspiration is for something similar to Kroenen's blades in hellboy, but without the switch-blade action. Just an automatic OTF wrist blade that retracts automatically, and does so very quickly.

Given that goal I keep leaning further and further away from a spring setup (especially since I would like to keep it compact, whats the point of a wrist blade if people can see something under your sleeve right?). So the plan I'm working on setting well on paper is a CO2 based wrist blade. Working similar to a BB gun (and running on the same cartridges) with automatically alternating valves for open and close operated by one or two switches per wristblade. I haven't heard of a blade being constructed that way but it seems very possible to me. What do you guys think?

Would work good for film,
but slow leaks on old equipment would make it undependable in the long run.

Your pneumatically operated Blade sounds like a great Idea, My internet seems to be acting up at the moment, so I cant go look for it myself, but StanleeWannabe recently posted some videos of his pneumatically operated Wolverine claws somewhere on here, so I know the idea will work well...
