Thoughts on claw design?

I'm trying to construct a series of individually articulated claws for a costume this halloween. I've machined some claws out of aluminum but they're a little too unwieldy in bars and such. So this year, I'm trying to come up with a means of making a decent set of retractable claws for a Logan costume. My idea was to construct a forearm mounted set of claws based on the out the front automatic knife concept. I'm also shooting for simplicity and plan on using a cable switch system instead of a button for the deployment/retraction of the claws/blades. In a nutshell, I can't find any schematics that I could reference for the build. Any good sources or ideas out there?

If you look around the site, you will find quite a few schematics to work from. I suggest starting with the AC Blade, DA OF, and Lazy tongs/Scissor jack threads.
