Age and Location

First topic message reminder :

Guys...all the new members have to state age and location.

I would prefer that all members go into their profile and add their location and age.


At some point I will be going in and asking each of you to do so in a personal message.

So please, do this one on your own. If you don't at some point I will make you.


The location is more of a want to know kind of thing.

The age I'm finding I would really like to know because with some of out members being teenages we get some post that ask questons that ....show their age. I have nothing against teenages being here, but I would like to know if I'm talking to a 40 yr old or a 14 yr old.
I will ask all of you to be careful, but if I know you are 14 I will have a little more patience and will explain things a little more.


Right now this is a firm request, but is is kinda manditory. If you don't add the info I will at some point ask you in a PM.

Greetings, everyone. I'm 21 and am located in Oceanside, California. I'm working on a degree in Computer Science and am a knife enthusiast thanks to two years of sword/weapon instruction under a great teacher. I love knives, swords, and have some natural talent with bullwhips (which can be great fun). I found the site while looking at a youtube video for an Assassin's Creed styled blade.

I'm 14.. LOL. The thing that puts me aside from most teens my age is that I have a fairly good vocabulary and a pretty good understanding of engineering and physics. I want to be a weapons engineer when I leave college, but I don't know any companies that I could apply for...
So for now making weapons is a hobby. I recently got the privilege of using a propane blow torch and made a neat little flick knife ^^
If I could find any friends that had the same hobbies/ideas as me, that would be AWESOME. As for now, I am an outcast.

31 years of age, from Toronto, ON, Canada. I'm not really sure what I expect to find here, but rest assured I find weaponeering intriguing. I usually keep pretty quiet on forums, so if I don't post much, I'm still here, I just may not have anything relevant to add.

I'm 21 from Charlottetown PEI, Canada I grew up in an automotive shop and have a love for metal working. I was raised to like weapons as my father was a competition shooter and my uncle a knife collector as well as a welder/ machinist, some of his stuff still amazes me. I am not raised in a metal shop or steel fabrications like most of you, but I can say I am excellent in GSA (General Scholastic Aptitude) , History, and academic and science stuff, Im more like a noble than a rogue in RPG games, lol.

My hobbies are reading books, playing games, making weapons, and using guns (my grandad was the champion in Marksmanship, with revolvers and pistols, and Im really good using snipers, not blades).. and wall climbing (im the fastest wall climber in our region)

My new hobbies are
Parkour, xiphoids, free running and stuff.

I'm going to go to a state university in washington to study engineering.

I like to think that I have the mind of an engineer, an inventor, and I enjoy solving design problems.

i'm 16, from new zealand. so most of the weapons i want to make would be illegal. but, i will try, and i guess by law i'll just keep the blade off the mechanism, if that's a loop hole. i will eventually check.

i am looking for a job now so i can afford materials and some better tools.
i haven't made weapons before, but i am really interested in these kind of mechanisms and other related things.

i have been looking around the a forums a bit, and come across some pretty cool ideas.
i had stumbled across this site while i was planning to make a "xiphoid".

i'm shit at drawing plans, but i use a program called algodoo. it enables 2d construction of something, it isn't too bad, it has rather low amount of limitations to planning, but it would be better if i could actually afford the real materials.

Hello everyone! I actually found this website out after designing my own Assassin's Creed hidden blade, and was immediately put to shame by some of the designs I saw. I'm nineteen years old, and I live in Buffalo, New York (although I'll be in Rochester come fall). I'm brand new to mechanical engineering of any sort; the most experience I've had has been with Bionicle Lego pieces. I am a fast learner though, and maybe my inexperience will allow me to come up with some more creative designs. You never know.
I'd like to put a couple of my designs up on here, but I regretfully don't have a drawing program on my computer. I'm currently working off of a netbook, and I don't know if 3d designing programs use much processing power. Any suggestions?
I'll be going to college in the fall (hence moving to Rochester), and I'm currently broke, but I hope not to be as soon as possible. I was wondering how expensive a hobby creating these xyphoids and such is.
P.S. Sorry if I ask too many questions. I think you'll find I have a lot of them.

Hey AR7894 Welcome to the forums!

Creating xiphoids can be done very cheaply. It's all about finding cheap materials, using things that are lying around, scavenging parts from other things and scrap yards, junk piles, etc.

Perhaps the most expensive is getting the right tools for the job, though pretty much almost everything can be done with just a good drill a good set of bits, and a file.
