The christmas tree crossbow shot so well that I decided to make a nicer weapon with the same concept.
So I made a side by side double shooter with steel levers, a steel system and a stainless steel "barrel" (16 mm tube).
The "fork" is very narrow as it has to be the same width as the two hooks for the ball+pouch, so the two shots are parallel.
The levers are held down by two rubber strings, quite effective, just like the christmas tree design.
Carved a stock from multiplex, dyed it with ink and oiled it with linseed oil.
This is a great shooter! Feels a bit odd at first to not have a trigger, but I got over that quickly.
Here is a little video about it:

Amazing as always Bruva Jorg!
Much more compact and better lookin' than V.1 , Though for Me personally I think it would look better with a shorter "barrel" so as it more resembles a Cowboy's Coach Gun
Thanks for sharing Jorg

Well, unfortunately a shorter barrel means less power... and I am not ready for that kind of compromise.

Hello Jörg,
It is an awesome design like always. Looks much better than the Double-Shooter V1. Actually, You inspired me. I have spent a whole afternoon with watching your videos, and right now I am drawing the fork for my own slingshot-crossbow. There is a short article on the left of the screen about Doers and Talkers, and you are definitely a Doer! It is very nice to have you here!

F'in awesome Jorg! I'm working on one of those right now...not a double shot though, mine is a pistol grip shotgun design. I'll post pics soon as I'm done...been busy lately and been working on three projects off and on. Your an inspiration...keep 'em coming.

Really nice work Jorg. I'm more of a crossbow fanatic rather than slingshots, but did enjoy my slingshot days as a kid...that is what got what got me into projectile weapons after all and it has it's respect in that sense.
However your choice of terminology is slightly misleading.
What you have is a "slingshot rifle"
I may get bashed here for trying to correct you, and perhaps it isn't really necessary, but we(crossbowmen) do like our "bow" powered "arrow" shooting weapons to be in a separate category from the "rubber" and "torsion" powered bullet/arrow/spear shooting weapons.
Respect to the slingshot world...great project and no depreciation what so ever.
Best Regards,
Ivo

Im inclined to agree that the title Xbow is somewhat misleading Ivo mate. Im guessing a crossbow gets its name due to the 'bowstring' being situated over the top of a stock/frame making a cross? Whereas Jorg's slings technically just run the length of the 'barrel' seperately, One each side...But if both the slings were joined making it one shot it could be classed as a distant cousin of the crossbow, No? :-) If I were given the task of naming it I'd call it the 'LongShot' but thats just Me

Well, how can my weapon be a rifle when there is no barrel, let alone a rifled one? If I would use a firearm equivalent, it would have to be slingshot musket I guess.
I call this a crossbow because legally, in Germany this falls in the crossbow category.
Three main criteria:
1. Is powered by muscle energy... check
2. Does not drive a projectile through a tubular barrel... check
3. Stores the muscle energy (has a trigger/lock)... check!
I am also reluctant to use any other term, as the crossbow is unregulated (except you have to be of age). For making an air gun or - worse - a firearm, you got to have a gunsmith license, which I lack.
Don't get me wrong, I can (and have, years ago) make firearms, no sweat - but I could never present those online, which I enjoy doing.
So I guess X-Bow it is. Sorry, I do not mean to degrade the crossbowmen (beeing one myself, I have a nice Jennings Devastator and several other crossbows too).

I guess it can be called a crossbow from the German legislation point of view, but energy storage option chosen still says otherwise and this is not just me being an annoying geezer stinking up your topic. Slingshot remains a slingshot as long as energy is stored in the stretched bands of rubber...it will no longer be a slingshot if the energy is stored in the bending of the bow limbs...do you agree?
And Jorg, absolutely no harm done towards the proud crossbowmen, everyone likes a unique crossbow designs no matter what energy storage option is chosen...I was more worried about me being rude towards you. I know this one design that might be of interest to you...perhaps you're already familiar with it as I've posted it here earlier.

A guy is walking down the street one day, and all of a sudden he hears the sound of piano music coming from inside a bar. Drawn by the melodic sounds,... he enters the bar and sees a man sitting at a piano in a tuxedo playing the most beautiful piece of music he's ever heard.
When the pianist finishes the song, the crowd in the bar gives him a robust round of applause, and many of the patrons make their way over to the piano to tip the performer. When the crowd thins out, the guy approaches the pianist and also praises him for the performance, telling him "That was the most beautiful piece of music I've EVER heard" and asks him what the name of it was....
The pianist thanks him for the compliment, and says to the guy "I wrote that piece myself,... I call it My Old Dead Dog".
The guy somewhat taken back by the gruesome name, says to the piano player, "The song is so beautiful, but the name is so morbid.... Why would you give such a beautiful song a terrible name like that?", .... to which the pianist replies "It's MY song, and I'll call it whatever I want!".
The pianist then tell the guy, "If you liked that one, listen to this!", and begins to play another song,.... a song that is even MORE amazing and emotionally moving than the one he just finished. As the last notes of the second song are finally played, the entire bar rises to their feet to give the performer a standing ovation, and there's not a dry eye in the house...... the song was truly that good.
With a sense of awe,... the guy says to the pianist "That song was like hearing the voices of angels! I've never heard anything like it!" and asks, "Did you write that one also?".
The pianist replies that yes, he did indeed write that song too,.... and then tells the guy "I call that one, Inoperable Cancerous Tumor".
The guy is mortified,.... and wiping the tears from his eyes he asks the pianist again, "why on earth would you ever give such a beautiful piece of music, such a gruesomely morbid name". To which the pianist replies, "It's MY song, I wrote it, and I'll call it whatever I want!".
As the guy turns to walk away he happens to glance down, and much to his surprise, he realizes that the piano player isn't wearing a full tuxedo,.... he's only wearing a tuxedo coat and tails with just a torn pair of boxer shorts on below the waist!! His surprise soon turns to shock, as he also realizes that not only is the pianist just wearing boxer shorts,... but BOTH of the man's balls are hanging out of his shorts onto the piano bench!!!
Highly embarrassed, and not sure what to do,.... the guy turns to the pianist and says, "Hey man, do you know your balls are hanging out on the bench?"......
The piano player with a really surprised look on his face, turns to the guy standing by the piano and replies......
"Know It?,... Hell Man, I WROTE IT !!"...
I guess the point of the story is.... when it's YOUR CREATION, you get to name it whatever you want!!
I think the name X-bow suits it just fine!,.... and if it helps to sneak one past the authorities that make up the rules for owning one,.... EVEN BETTER !!
Great Build Jorg,... Your work is ALWAYS top notch !

Shadowhound, with all due respect...music is music and there is not a man in the crowd to say it isn't, same goes for art, but technology...eeehhh...remember "smooth bore" vs "small bore" mistake I made. Same here, I'm just pointing out the difference, so Jorg doesn't sound unprofessional, however knowing where he comes from...crossbow is just fine.
Ivo
PS: Regarding the project...I'd love to +++ some rep points for Jorg, but that feature is turned off for me.

Also known as a Retractable Forearm Dagger, Xiphoid is a class of weapons with a blade that is retractable into a forearm worn wristband/bracer sheath. Designed for swift and quick surprise attacks. It is notable for being evolved from the Katar and the Pata, punching swords with the blade sitting inline with the users fist..
There's two kinds of people in this world when you boil it all down.
You've got your 'talkers' and you've got your 'doers'.
Most people are just talkers, all they got is talk. But when all is said and done, it's the doers who change this world. And when they do that, they change us. And thats why we never forget them...
So which one are you? Do you just talk about it or do you stand up and do something about it? Because believe you me, all the rest of it is just bullshit.
