SinSkull - New Skull Knuckle Duster Design by SINZA

Here's a new knuckle duster....the SinSkull

Black Micarta skull knuckle duster made by Sinza on 5-8-2010.
Skull knuckle duster design trademark, copy written, bla bla bla owned by Sinza.

Something I designed about 5 years ago but never got around to making until now.
I've had Brass Knuckles since I was a teen. It always kinda buged me that they had a 'smiley face' look to them. I wanted something more ....sinister yet stylish.
If I can swing the cash I would like to have a dozen or so waterjet cut maybe in about a month.

The re-draw.


Cutting it out.


Glueing it to a sheet of Black Micarta. You can see in the background a couple of cardboard and superglue prototype versions I made first to get a idea of how it felt.


Drilling some holes.


Cutting it out with a band-saw.

Sanding it on the belt sander.


Sanded to the lines.


More holes drilled. Not shown but I also drilled holes for the mouth area.


Getting things opened up with a Dremel tool and a few different carving bits and sanding drums.


Getting all the sharp edges smooth and rounded. Now it feel nice to the hand.

This shields your fingers and keeps them from getting broken.


And here's how it looks polished.

Truth is I still need to do some more finish sanding on the inside of the cutouts and a little more polishing, but it's pretty much done.

I may do a little artistic carving to it. Maybe add some skull details like cracks and such.

Next, my plan is to have some water jet cut and have some for sale. Brass, Polished steel version or Black Micarta.

O.K. .....now I've re-designed the Brass Knuckles....Time for you guys to come up with some new designs!

poindexter....micarta is only second in strenth to carbon fiber it is in no way plasticy or glockish...its impervious to heat ,cold any pertrolium products[lots of platics melt in contact with gasoline] it is one of the lightest strongest materials around. it also comes in a variety of colors .this stuff is super tough and thats why a lot of a lot of custom knife makers use it as handle material.it is a good product and it easy to find on the net!definitly a good material all around wheather for the knuckle duster or handle material..

I DO NOT WANT TO BE GRAMMAR POLICE. I understand that many of you are used to texting, this isn't the place for it. If you are going to write here please do it right. It's easy....start with a capital, end with a punctuation mark, use commas and apostrophes, use spell check if you can't spell.
The point of writing something is to get your thoughts across. Bad grammar makes you look stupid, and none of us want that....and that brings us to our next point.

3. I have a VERY low tolerance for TEXT SPEAK.I'd rather not see it.

4.Banned Topics - DO NOT POST!

Is what you are posting about illegal? Is what you are building illegal? Are you breaking the law?
We do not encourage members to break laws. If you are building switchblades, whether for hand or strapped to your arm, understand the laws of your area. Many areas do not allow any kind of automatic blade. If you make a automatic wristblade for your own safety don't strap it on and leave your house, any cop will just shoot first.

9.Post quality, not quantity. Make your post worth it.
If you're gonna tell us about something, if you can, don't just post a link. Post a BUNCH of pictures, lots of info, and the video too. Tell us about it. Give us as much info as you can, make it a great post full of pictures, links, lots of info, everything you can. Make it a post people will be talking about!

10. Do what your Admin say.
Sinza, Phyreblade, Bill Sykes, Shadowhound...even Jerryk25. If they tell you something it was for a reason. Jerry knows what he's talking about, so if Jerry say it it's more than likely true. Me, Sinza, I'll tell you what to do, Phyreblade will say it in a nicer way, and Bill will say it in a funny way. Shadowhound will put you in your place with lots of color. No I am not being a Brainy smurf...But telling me to go and join a book club because of grammar issues is kind of a dick move on your part.

Cottenmouth71 Welcome to the forum, glad to have ya.
Yes, we do have some rules. Very simple very basic.
One of them is that we expect people to be adults. Adults don't communicate in text-speak, all lower case, all upper case, or no punctuation. Children do this.
We are here to communicate ideas. If we have trouble reading what you wrote then you're not communicating right. We also have MANY members who do not speak English and use translators, when you use text-speak or other improper grammar it makes it near impossible for people to understand what is written.
And most of all....I hate it.
If I look at a post and it looks like it's written by a child I really have no interest in in. It's not the age, it's the attitude...it shows you just don't care. And if you don't care why should we?
I try to stay out of things as much as I can, but yes, there are Admins in charge and there are a few rules. Rules you agreed to when you joined...you were supposed to read them before you posted.
Really, I'm not trying to be a jerk, the rules are there to help EVERYBODY.

Bottom line is this: Exotic Automatic is a PRIVATE forum...public to join, private to stay. We have very few rules and they are simple easy rules.
Members are expected to KNOW and FOLLOW the rules. If not you may be warned or you might just be banned. None of us has time to babysit, it's just easier to make the people who don't follow rules go away...we've done it before.
AND there is a WARNING written in the rules, so you can't say you were not warned.
Read the rules, learn it, live it, love it. Enjoy your time here, we have lots of cool stuff. This is the big Sandbox that we all come to play in...don't shit in my sandbox.

Hello Cottonmouth, and welcome to the Sinza forums,

As you've been told by Testmonkeyking and Sinza, spelling and grammar is very important, they've given you the reasons why.

One thing we appreciate on this forum is how friendly our users are, and rudeness is generally frowned upon, I don't know whether it was intentional, or meant to be a joke (Yes, the internet can be a bitch like this sometimes due to there's no tone in your typing.) but it did sound quite rude even though Test is only trying to help you.

As posted in the rules, text speak is looked down upon, I know it seems like a silly thing to rant about, but helps our foreign users, using translation software to understand your post, and makes you look like you care about the topic you're commenting on.

If you struggle with spelling, then I'd suggest using "Google Chrome" which has a built in spelling feature, and underlines any misspelt words in red (Like on MS word.)

Sinza, The SinSkull is beautiful. What grade micarta did you use? I was researching the material and noticed there are different grades. There is even a bulletproof brass version.

That's a slick lil attitude adjuster!

Nicely done, I chanced upon your post doing a search for unique Micarta creations, I wanted to see what folks have done other than pen blanks, knife handles and pistol grips. Have you ever tried to make your own Micarta?

A great idea and execution! It occurred to me about your ideas for such a devil's skull:

I don't want to be a jerk, but what purpose are these knuckles for?

If they are pure art project, nice. If you want them as a useable product though, a few problems come to mind. They mostly focus on the end purpose of knuckle dusters.

I used to carry knuckles a lot back in the day. I considered them a more 'merciful' weapon than a knife. A few shots in the ribs from knuckles would take the fight out of most people with out a risk of killing or crippling them. And if they did get their hands/elbows down to block, that took the fight out them even quicker.

The purpose of knuckles from my perspective could be summed up in four value propositions:
1) portable and concealable
2) Quickly deployable
3) Sub lethal
4) Hard to disarm.

The added spikes in your devils head design will make them hard to quickly pull from a pocket and far more likely to inflict wounds that can bleed out than smooth knuckles are. If they are an art project, then they look good and these are not problems. If they are intended for use though, you may wish to consider these constraints.

I plan and to do only hiking knifes, slingshots and slings practical.
Almost everything else is art project.
(The devil's head is just a paper model. I have not done it ready.)

I must say that the SinSkull Knuckle Duster is very impressive. As an avid skull lover I find this design aesthetically pleasing. I, like many here, would like to get my skull bashing hands on one. Just kidding on the skull bashing.
